Most guests find that advice received or information discovered makes their visit worthwhile.  To take full advantage of the opportunity, internet users should beforehand make use of resources that are readily available on line, including the many WFHS parish registers and other transcriptions available on FindMyPast and the free internet access to censuses etc through many public libraries.  Visitors from further afield should note that the county's principal sources of historical material are the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre in Chippenham and the Wiltshire Museum’s Archive & Library in Devizes.
